Privacy policy: Hermes receipts

Last updated November 7, 2026.

Hermes receipts is a personal tool run by Brett Mullikin on his own home server. It has one user, its owner. It isn't a product and isn't offered to the public.

What it accesses

With the owner's permission, through Google's Gmail API, it reads messages in the owner's Gmail account that are labeled as receipts or that Gmail files under Purchases. It adds labels to messages it has processed. It doesn't send, delete or change email.

What it does with that data

It saves a PDF copy of each receipt and a row in a spreadsheet (store, items, total, date, payment method) to storage in the owner's home. The text is read by software running on that same home server. Receipt contents aren't sent to any outside AI service.

Sharing

None. Data from Google accounts isn't sold, shared, transferred to anyone, or used for advertising. It isn't used to train AI models.

Storage and security

Files stay on the owner's home network. An encrypted backup copy is kept with a cloud backup provider. The Gmail access token is stored only on the home server and can be revoked at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Google API Services User Data Policy

Hermes receipts' use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
